INVESTIGATION REPORTS
The Blindbeggar is notorious for its connection with the Eastend gangsters the Kray twins.
On 9 March Ronnie Kray shot and murdered George Cornell,  an associate of rival gang  the
Richardsons, as he was sitting at the bar. The murder took place  in the then saloon bar, and
since this information is widely available PSI as a group all agreed not to attempt to pursue
any connection with this event.
The landlord and some members of staff joined the team for what hoped to be an interesting
investigation.

In the bar area next to one particular chair, Vince Gary and Carl all had the feeling of being
dizzy and wanting to fall backwards.

Rose  is on tape saying the name George but was reluctant to go with this for obvious reasons.

Carl picked up on a woman in a white cloth cap and suggested perhaps a maid.
and Gary also said of a dark haired woman in white. May have been the same person.

Carl checks for any photographic
evidence.
Could this be the kind of maid
picked up
While in the small back area of the cellar Vince got the name of Frank sitting down or even in a wheel chair, also a golf club and possibly someone getting beaten up, maybe with the golf club.

Vince's tape recorder was stopping and starting on command and what sounded like small stones being thrown just outside could clearly be heard and neither the two guest that joined  Gary and Vince said it was not them. due to the fact no other team member was outside can this be verified.

Two astonishing pieces of EVP were captured. The first was in the gents toilets. Rose and Vince
armed with just a voice recorder. both called out for various things. When Vince called out
" what is your name "  the reply came back " Michael " . an excited Vince called the rest
of the team to listen and all could hear the voice sayinfg " Michael ".
The second EVP was  in the back part of the small cellar. A voice is actually caught on tape say
" what you doing " which was witnessed and heard by Vince and Gary.
When the now 3 guests were asked if anyone had said  " what  you doing " all replied,  NO.
at first what doubted  this was Vince heard it, Gary heard it but the guests did not.!!
BUT what does make this strange is if this question was asked by one of the onlookers
then its out of place, surely they would ask the onlooker/partner  " what
THEY doing "
or "whats going on"  etc. . Also the volume does not rise above background noise, yet when we asked the onlookers did they speak each voice is clearly above background.

So Vince is furthest in the room
the recorder was in between Vince and Gary.
The onlookers next and closest to the door and Gary.

Vince  heard the voice as clearly as if Gary had spoken it. and even replied to him.
who stated that it was not him
Gary heard it clearly also.
The recorder is of good quality and placed between us but hardly
picked up the sound at all yet clearly got the voices of the onlookers who were beyond Gary.

The landlord could not confirm alot of material gathered from the investigation as it seemed the evidence could be to far back from his research. BUT he did confirm that a maid picked up by Carl had been noted in the past.
PSI found the Blindbeggar to be an interesting place and believe that there could possibly be some
residual energy there and found the evening to have a very calm atmosphere.
PSI would like to thank the landlord and staff for allowing this event to take place.
BLINBEGGAR TRIVIA
Built in 1894 on the site of another inn, established in 1654, and named for the legend of Henry de Montford,
a son of Simon de Montford. He was wounded and lost his sight in the battle of Evesham in 1265. and was nursed
to health by a baroness, and together they had a child names Besse ( commemerated in Besse Rd).
He became the the blind beggar of Bethnal Green and used to beg at the crossroads.
The story of how he went from landed gentry to poor beggar became hugely popular in the Tudor era and was revived
by Percy's
Reliques of ancient english poetry, published in 1756.
The legend came to be adopted in the arms of the Metropolitan Borough of Bethnal Green in 1900.
The Beggar is a popular tourist attration for salvationists.  It is known as the site on which the Salvation Army started,
as in 1865, it was outside the public house that William Booth preached his first sermon and william Booth is
commemerated by a neaby statue.
