ST.MATHIAS CHURCH

Originally a chapel, St Mathias Church was built by the East India Company for it's employees who lived in the area in the early 1500's.  100 years later the chapel was destroyed  and the church that still stands today was biult in it's place and used as a place of worship for the local community right up untill it's closure in 1976. Up to the mid 1990's the church  remained derelict,  but with the local people's fundraising it is now back to it's full  gradeII  listed glory. Now currently  being used as a local community centre.

This was to be our shortest investigation, not being able to gain access to rhe biulding untill 12 midnight. So we  decided not to use to much eqiupment, just a few hand held  night vision camer's and and carefully place sound recorders.  PSI used the yes / no cards, glass movement and table tipping techniques. All proved qiute successful but nothing pacific was detail came through.

A Church, A Grave yard, you would think that the spirits would be leaping and bounding about, alas this was not to be, if the spirits don't want to come out,  they wont. So at around 4.30am we decided to call an end to the investigation. It was then, while we were packing away ready for the journey home that everybody heard what can only be discribed as a loud  " screeching " sound within the church itself going from one end of the biulding to       the other and then back again.  Luckily we still had a piece of sound recording still on,  thanks to Vince's absent mindness and managed to capture the strange sound. Members of the team raced to the area from where the sound came from and some went outside but nothing could be found to identify this sound.

Vince later put the recording through the computers sound analysis and explained that most of it was above the human  range of hearing, also that it was moving from left to right to left again very rapidly. It was also discovered on the recording just after the screeching a melodic singing can heard which sounds like " tuma luma luma, tuma luma luma ".  Not one of the investigators heard this at the time. PSI checked with staff and they confirmed that no bats are there or any kind of  machinary makes a screeching sound. We still can not explain the origin of the screech or singing.
